Revealing Cheshire's Past - The Sites and Monuments record for the county of Cheshire.

Discover Cumbia - The Cumbria HER.

Keys to the Past - The online SMR for County Durham and Northumberland.

SEAX Archaeology - Unlocking Essex's Past - The online SMR for Essex.

Hampshire Treasures Online - The online Hampshire Treasures record. (Those natural or man made features of the county which are of public interest by reason of their aesthetic, archaeological, historic, scenic, scientific, sociological or traditional interest, and whose deterioration or destruction would represent a serious loss to our heritage.)

Hampshire AHBR - The online Archaeological and Historic Building Record.

Historic Herefordshire On-Line - The online SMR database for Herefordshire.

Exploring Kents Past - the online version of the Kent Historic Environment Record.

Milton Keynes intelligence Observatory -  A mapping site that has some details of the HER

Norfolk Heritage Explorer - The online version of the Norfolk Historic Environment Record (NHER) – a database of archaeological sites, finds and buildings in Norfolk.

Oxfordshire Heritage Search - a moderate search engine that make identifying sites hit and miss and provides only basic information, not including bibliographical references.

Somerset Historic Environment Record - The online SMR database for the modern authority of Somerset (which excludes the north of historic Somerset). A good, solid, searchable database although long scrolling monument type menus are irksome.

Discovering Shropshire's History - The Shropshire HER. Good search engine, and detailed results with good, full, description, including bibliography. Nice link to Microsoft's Virtual Earth air photo showing nearby HER entries, which can be useful in reconstructing the medieval landscape.

Exploring Surrey's Past - The Surrey HER provides only basic information, not including bibliographical references.

SiteLines - The online HER for Tyne and Wear. Searchable but gives basic site information only.

Warwickshire Sites and Monuments Record - The online SMR for Warwickshire. Good, solid searchable database.

Wiltshire and Swindon Sites and Monument Record - No gloss, reasonable search engine, good detail (including the underlying geology of sites!) and ok bibliography (date of publication often not given).

Out of Oblivion: A landscape through time - Is the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Archaeological services website. This does have pages with details of many of the archaeological sites but the full HER is also available online through the Archaeological Data Service
